Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to design, implement and maintain reliable, secure and scalable infrastructure and platform services.

You will be responsible for managing either cloud-based or on-premises environments, supporting mission-critical applications and ensuring high availability, performance and security. You will also work closely with software engineers and architects to drive infrastructure automation, platform optimization and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure and platform services.
  • Manage cloud environments (AWS/Azure) or on-premises infrastructure, including virtualization and server environments.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management and deployment automation.
  • Manage containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Apply security controls and ensure compliance with relevant standards and requirements.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
  • Perform platform deployment, integration testing, troubleshooting and production support.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects and stakeholders to optimise platform performance and reliability.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in platform engineering, infrastructure management or systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of either cloud infrastructure or on-premises environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Familiarity with deployment tools such as Helm or Kustomize.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or Datadog.
  • Knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, identity management and infrastructure security.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and automation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell or Go.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AWS, Azure or Government Commercial Cloud (GCC).
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, KVM or other virtualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), incident management and production support.
  • Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup and business continuity planning.
  • Exposure to data platforms, streaming technologies and distributed systems.
  • Understanding of infrastructure cost optimization and compliance frameworks.
