Job title: Cloud Software Engineer (AWS / PaaS)

Job Description

We are seeking a Platform Software Engineer (PaaS) to design, build, and operate cloud platform services that enable application teams to deploy and run workloads efficiently, securely, and at scale. This role focuses on AWS-based platforms, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation to improve developer experience and platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain platform services and tooling that support application development and deployment on cloud environments.

  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cloud resources, ensuring consistency, security, and repeatability.

  • Build automation to support self-service provisioning, CI/CD integration, and standardised deployment patterns.

  • Operate and support platform services in production, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.

  • Collaborate with application, DevOps, and security teams to align platform capabilities with engineering and compliance requirements.

  • Implement and enforce platform standards, guardrails, and best practices for security, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Continuously improve platform observability, including logging, metrics, and alerting.

  • Contribute to platform documentation, runbooks, and operational guides.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, or DevOps-related roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3).

  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, Bash).

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.

  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity management.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to operate systems in production environments.

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative, engineering-first mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or operating PaaS or internal developer platforms (IDP).

  • Hands-on experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).

  • Exposure to observability tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Experience working in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.

  • AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
