Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in MongoDB administration and database performance tuning. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining reliable, secure, highly available and high-performing database environments supporting business-critical applications.

- Working Location: Central (on-site)
- Salary Package: Up to $7,500 (basic) + AWS +VB
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain and support MongoDB databases across development, testing and production environments.
- Monitor database health, availability, capacity and performance to ensure stable operations.
- Perform database performance tuning, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, slow queries and resource constraints.
- Analyse and optimise queries, indexes, execution behaviour and database configurations to improve application and database performance.
- Configure and manage MongoDB Replica Sets and sharded environments to support high availability and scalability.
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching and migrations.
- Develop and maintain appropriate backup, restore and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
- Troubleshoot database incidents, outages, replication issues and performance degradation, including root cause analysis and preventive actions.
- Conduct regular database health checks and capacity planning to support future growth.
- Implement and maintain database security, authentication, authorisation and access controls.
- Support application releases, deployments and database changes while minimising production impact.
- Automate routine database administration and monitoring activities using scripting where applicable.
- Work closely with application developers, infrastructure, cloud and DevOps teams to troubleshoot issues and improve database performance.
- Maintain database configurations, operational procedures, technical documentation and support runbooks.
- Provide production support and participate in standby/on-call support where required.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in Database Administration, preferably supporting enterprise or production environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB administration.
- Good understanding of MongoDB architecture, Replica Sets, sharding, indexing and replication.
- Strong experience in database performance monitoring, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Experience analysing and optimising slow queries, indexing strategies and database resource utilisation.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA), backup/recovery and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
- Experience with database upgrades, patching and migration activities.
- Good knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
- Scripting or automation experience using Python, Bash/Shell or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Exposure to cloud database environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP would be advantageous.
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas, Ops Manager or database monitoring tools would be an advantage.
- Exposure to other relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Redis or Cassandra would be beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
