Cloud Operations Engineer
- Working Hours: Mon-Fri (Hybrid)
- Remuneration: Up to $9,000 + AWS
- Employment Type: Contract (1 year renewable with chances of conversion)
About the Role
We are looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of cloud-based platforms and applications. This role combines cloud infrastructure management, operational support, automation, and incident resolution, working closely with engineering and business teams to ensure stable and secure services.
The ideal candidate has experience in cloud or infrastructure operations, enjoys troubleshooting technical issues, and is passionate about improving system reliability through automation and operational best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and support cloud-based infrastructure and applications across production and non-production environments.
- Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests, and operational issues in accordance with established service levels.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability and availability.
- Provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline operational and deployment processes.
- Support application deployments, environment configuration, and release activities.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product teams, security teams, and external stakeholders to deliver operational improvements.
- Support change management, patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance management solutions.
- Ensure operational processes and technical documentation are maintained and kept up to date.
- Support compliance, audit, governance, and security requirements through evidence collection and operational controls.
- Participate in on-call, incident response, or after-hours support arrangements where required.
Requirements
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or similar technologies.
- Experience with system administration, cloud operations, infrastructure support, or application support.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Understanding of incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
- Experience with scripting or automation using tools such as Python, Shell, PowerShell, Ansible, or similar technologies is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and deployment pipelines is advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
