Working Hours: Monday – Thursday (8.30am – 6pm), Friday (8.30am – 5.30pm) (Hybrid working arrangement)

Working Location: Central

Salary Package: Up to $10,000 + AWS

Employment Type: Full Time Contract (1 year renewable with chances of conversion)

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable backend services, APIs and data-processing capabilities. You will work closely with product managers, engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure and production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python.
Manage backend feature development across design, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
Build integrations with internal platforms, external systems and third-party services.
Develop AI-powered backend capabilities, including document ingestion, retrieval and knowledge-processing services.
Build and maintain reliable data-processing pipelines.
Work with relational and non-relational databases to support scalable and resilient systems.
Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability, observability and performance.
Participate in code reviews and maintain best practices across testing, CI/CD, security and maintainability.
Collaborate with product, engineering, UX and external partner teams.
Contribute to improvements in platform architecture and developer experience.

Requirements

Minimum 4 years of backend software engineering experience in a production environment.
Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and token-based authentication.
Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Experience with production troubleshooting and operational support.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and modern software-development workflows.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across different teams.
Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript or Node.js would be advantageous.
Exposure to LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases or prompt engineering would be advantageous.
Familiarity with document-processing pipelines, including text extraction, chunking, embeddings and metadata management.
